Genital Warts

Genital Wart Cream

Medications:

There are several medications used for genital warts removal and can be used as analternative to surgery or laser surgery (which is done under local anesthetic).

  • Podophyllum resin - topically applied by a physician
  • Podofilox (Condylox) - can be topically applied at home and usually works better than Pondophyllum resin.  Podofilox can also be used for prevention.
  • Trichloroacetic acid or bichloracetic acid - topically applied however recurrence is higher than with other treatment and may cause burning sensation and pain.
  • 5-Fluorouracil (Efudex) - is a genital wart cream that has a long treatment time. Can cause burning sensation and irritation as well as other side effects.
  • Interferon alpha-n3 ( Alferon N) - injection used for warts that do not respond to other therapies. Has many sideffects.
  • Imiquimod (Aldara) - is another genital wart cream which may irritate the surrounding skin as a side effect.

Home Remedies:

There are numerous home remedies for wart removal that have been developed over time by people unwilling to try medications or surgery.  There has never been a study as to how effective these treatments are so there is no real data on whether they work or not.

  • Vitamin E Oil & Crushed Raw Garlic - applying the vitamin e oil and crushed raw garlic on the infected area and covering it with adhesive tape.
  • Onion Juice - Making juice from onion slices covered over night with salt, and applying it to affected area until warts disappear.
  • Fig Juice - Applying white milky juice of figs stem, two to three times a day directly on the wart.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar - Applying apple cider vinegar to the affected area using a cotton ball and placing bandaid in place to hold the cotton ball in place.

Other plants (plant parts) that have been used for getting rid of genital warts are:
Celadine, White Cedar Leaf, Milkweed, Papaya, Fresh Aloe Leafs, Bloodroot and Pineapple Peel.  All of these are considered effective options for wart removal, however there was no comprehensive study done to show how well they might or might not work.

Because natural remedies are safer and have no sideffects (unlike the medications) more and more people have been looking into natural treatments.  Since most of these homeopathic cures listed here do not work for everyone, or can take a very long time to work, numerous natural products have been created for wart removal.  If you are interested in learning how to remove warts you should read about the top 3 cures available on the market today.
